Professional Development Opportunities

Educational Opportunities:

The St. Lawrence Child Care Council offers a range of training opportunities and programs with the goal to help caregivers develop and/or improve child care practices through professional development, training, and technical assistance. Educational opportunities are open to:

•  Family & Group Family Child Care Providers
•  Day Care Center Staff
•  School-Age Child Care Program Staff
•  Other organizations/staff that work with children


Professional Development Opportunities: 
The New York State Child Day Care Regulations require providers to obtain appropriate training to maintain their license or registration.  Click here to view the current training requirements.  Following all SLCCC training opportunities additional technical assistance is available to any/all participants if desired.  This can be arranged in person, by telephone or by virtual meeting.

Registration and Cancellation/Refund Policies & Procedures:



  1. Advance registration and prepayment (where applicable) are required to enroll in all training programs and to receive a certificate at the completion of the class. Returned checks will be assessed at the current bank rate.
  2. The St. Lawrence Child Care Council must receive full payment (check, cash, money order, credit card payment or EIP Scholarship Award) at least five (5) days prior to the start date (unless prior arrangements have been made) of the workshop.
  3. If an EIP award is received after registrant has made full payment, a refund will be issued to the payee upon receipt of signed award letter.
  4. Space is limited in some classes, therefore advance registration is highly recommended. A confirmation of registration will be emailed prior to the start date of the training.
  5. Registration is complete upon once full payment has been received.


  1. If training is cancelled due to low enrollment or inclement weather, participants will be notified by phone. Registration fees will only be refunded for workshops cancelled by the Child Care Council.
  2. Participants who cancel may be issued a refund minus a service charge if the request is made in writing at least 10 days prior to the start of the training program and we can fill the vacancy in the class. Refunds issued are made payable to the originator. Refunds due EIP will be according to EIP policy.
  3. No refunds will be issued once a training program or workshop series has begun.
  4. Participants who start and do not complete a training program are still responsible for the full payment of that program.
  5. Participants must remain for the entire session(s) to receive full credit and a certificate.
  6. A certificate of attendance is awarded upon completion of each session(s).
  7. Participants are responsible for maintaining their own training records.
  8. There is a $10.00 fee for each duplicate certificate requested.
